..............................................................................

The Institute of Noise Control Engineering/Japan (INCE/Japan) was founded in 1976 after the International Conference on Noise Control Engineering (Inter-noise) was held for the first time in Japan in 1975 and admitted as an incorporated body of Environmental Agency of Japan (Ministry of the Environment: at present) in 1991. INCE/Japan promotes the advancement and distribution of science and technology of noise and vibration control and contributes to the protection and improvement of living environment.
Members of INCE/J are with industries, central and local governments and universities and from various fields such as architecture, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, applied physics, physiology and psychology. At the end of March 2004 the membership reached about 1300.
INCE/Japan publishes the journal"Noise Control" bimonthly with original papers and review papers on special topics and holds an annual meetings in spring and autumn every year. Other meetings and technical visits are planned occasionally.
INCE/Japan has hosted or sponsored International Conferences, e.g. Inter-Noise in 1975 and 1994, WESTPRAC VII in 2000 and 18th ICA in 2004. It has already been decided that the Institute will co-organize Inter-Noise 2006 in Hawaii in 2006.

As one of activity of Institute of Noise Control Engineering of Japan (INCE/J), Qualified Advanced Engineer (INCE/JAPAN/consultant) on noise and vibration control, which is qualified advanced engineer by INCE/J, is established since 1991. This qualification system aims mainly improvement of the science and technology in noise and vibration control and preservation of good environment on noise and vibration. Namely the idea is that, the qualified advanced engineer by the INCE/J, as the engineer is properly covering noise and vibration control, and these engineers not only role social request in good environment, but also promote development of noise control engineering, as this qualification system encourage mutual goal in member of INCE/J.
